I don’t know if there is any truth to this but I have heard that the Phillies were named after the cigars.

Innocuous and bland names are less liable to change campaigns from outside groups.

In Japan they have the Dragons, Buffaloes, Hawks, and the Tigers. But they also have the Swalllows, Carp and Ham Fighters.

How about PEKWACHNAMAYKOSKWASKWAYPINWANIK? That’s a pretty tough name.

Two I can think of is the Tigers and Braves. Maybe the Diamondbacks. Tampa use to have the Devil Rays before changing to the Rays.

Base ball is not like Lttle League. It is not as fast. and exighting. But those that go do find it entertaining. I don’t.

Go make a blue jay mad and come back and say they aren’t tough.

Went to a AA game yesterday (Chattanooga Lookouts) for first time with the new time-restriction rules. Only 18 seconds to pitch makes things move along – a bit too fast, maybe. The whole game was over in just a little over 2 hours. I prefer more leisurely games.
