Good place to get some BBQ Snoopy. Come back in about 15 years and Buck O"Neil would give you a tour of the newly opened N*gro Leagues Baseball Museum which is still a wonderful place to spend the day!
It seems strange for Snoopy to refer to Charlie as that round headed kid, and yet Snoopy is concerned to relieve Charlie’s fears by sending him a card.
Before the merger with T mobile Sprints headquarters was in Overland Park. In the old old days TWA’s (Google it) headquarters was also in KC Also ever notice the crown on the KC Royals uniforms. A nod to Hallmarks crown.
I’ve got a pressing question (in my best Andy Rooney voice): why is it that they name Kansas City in Missouri and Virginia City in Nevada? At least where I live Virginia Beach, Virginia, there’s no confusion as to the state.
If you travel a few miles west (in today’s world) you can see the biggest ball of yarn/string/twine. Yes, I know it is three plus hours but in big states three hours is nothing.
There is a very interesting podcast called Detours (it’s connected to the PBS show Antiques Roadshow) with an episode about how a guy from Hallmark first convinced Charles Schulz to license his drawings for cards and such. The guy and Schulz became great friends and Schulz gave him all kinds of drawings and sketches (which his family still owns – and brought to Antiques Roadshow). As I kid, I contributed much to Hallmark’s coffers because I LOVED all the Peanuts merch

Snoopy was so excited about KC, he used a speech bubble instead of a thought bubble in the first panel.

I’m going to Kansas City
Kansas City, here I come
I’m going to Kansas City
Kansas City, here I come
They got some crazy
Little women there
And I’m gonna get me one.
I’m gonna be
Standing on the corner
Twelfth Street and Vine
I’ll be standing on the corner
Twelfth Street and Vine
With my Kansas City baby
And a bottle of Kansas City wine
Well, I might take a train
I might take a plane
But if I have to walk
I’m going just the same
I’m going to Kansas City
Kansas City, here I come
They got some crazy
Little women there
And I’m gonna get me one
Now if I stay with that woman
I know I’m gonna die
Gotta find a brand new baby
And that’s the reason why
I’m going to Kansas City
Kansas City, here I come
They got some crazy
Little women there
And I’m gonna get me one
They got some crazy
Little women there
And I’m gonna get me one
They got some crazy
Little women there
And I’m gonna get me one
EXCEPT, there is no 12 street and Vine in Kansas City.
