Who would have thought that?
Could someone think outside the box because thinking inside the box makes them feel claustrophobic?
Shrodinger’s cat is in the box…
If you learn the rules well, you’ll know the best way to break them.
An example is Picasso. He was a master at drawing realistically. He didn’t break the rules till he mastered the rules.
“Charm will only take you so far. Sooner or later you’ve got to know something.” …Somebody
I really like Mrs. Olsen take on this. As to Caulfield, If he doesn’t master what’s in the box, his future might include bagging fast foods
Seems that, somewhere right around here, someone should throw in a reference to the Kobayashi Maru.
But…. what if we think outside the box about thinking outside the box?!
A bit of a paradox here. If thinking outside of the box becomes conventional, wouldn’t that then make it thinking inside the box?
The snag is that once you master the material, there’s the risk that you’ll become invested in it. But the converse is true: many people who imagine they’re “thinking outside the box” actually just don’t know what they’re talking about.
Well Caulfield, you’re no Mohamed Ali.
And you need to know what the box is.
