Popsicle Pete, one of my favorites. Fond memories of running with my dog and other little friends for ice cream. Hopefully we’ll get to see his ice cream truck this summer. It’s a cool looking 60s-70s circa rig.
I had a summer “Popsicle Pete” job once. It wasn’t fun. I blame it on the route I was assigned. Not very many kids. Almost daily some of the moms would yell at me for waking them (or their children) up – Some were pretty vicious. Yes, I ate some of my profits. I lasted about two weeks before I found a better job.
Yes, there really was a world like that once. The summer I was 11 I spent all my days over at my BFF’s house 3 or 4 blocks from home, staying out and playing kick the can after dark. The ice cream man hit her street before mine. One time all the kids got ice cream but I had no money. I told the man where I lived and asked if I could pay him when he got to my street. He looked a little dubious, but I got my ice cream, after which I high-tailed it home, got my dime and was waiting for him at the curb. I think he was a little surprised and very pleased. After that we had a regular date. Nice days.

Rover gets rewarded for Red’s achievement. I suppose he has earned it by being an influence on Red.

Anyone ever see an Ice Cream truck with the repeating tune? Had one our neighborhood the past couple of years. Hope it comes back this Summer, too.
