We used to go too the local drive in when I was a kid. They were a lot of fun…but my dad ALWAYS developed stomach problems and we would end up going home. Drive In food…
I know te one closest to me was open during the pandemic. They had some graduation ceremonies there. I’m not sure if they still are. I know a lot of themwent under when they could not afford to convert to the all digital formats.I remember going with my parents when I was an only child,(under 5 years old).
I remember specifically the last Drive-In I attended: Circa 1982, San Diego, CA., Movie Blade Runner, (My favorite movie). Previously saw many movies of lasting interest…like Cycle Sl*ts Meet Road Scum. What an age!
We used to go to the drive-in regularly with our wound-up kids. It worked well for all of us. Movies shown at drive-ins are generally targeted for a kid-like mentality and the kids would be asleep halfway through the second feature (so would I)
Shankweiler’s Drive-In Theater, Orefield, PA is the oldest drive-in movie theater in America. Opened in 1934. Currently showing Teenage Kraken and Jaws. About 25 miles away from me.
The DriveInMovie website says there are currently 330 movie theaters in operation in the U.S., down from approximately 4,000 in the 1950s. If, as been speculated, the MacPhersons live in Arizona, then they must live in Glendale, which has the only drive-in theater still in operation in the state. And it has nine screens!

The drive-in’s in my city closed and were torn down years ago. There maybe some still around, but none close.

We still have a drive it with dual screens. Open not the weekends, very popular still. They always show a cartoon and a double feature.

Interesting would be one word to describe it, but I can think of several others.

My city and the neighboring cities have been having community outdoor movie nights for years. I hope they start up again soon.

We still have one here. It has two screens. They make most of their money on the flea market on weekends.
