One son and his wife live a 20 minute drive (country, not city) from their near-each-other work places. And they both have flex time jobs… and prefer to work without elbow jogging from coworkers. So they’ve begun getting up at 2:30 am (that’s almost when I go to bed!) to get to work by 3:30am so they can get 4 or 5 hours of uninterrupted work time. That means going to bed at about 6:30 or 7 in order to get enough sleep. But the other good thing is that they’re allowed to do four 10-hour days, so this way they get hoe about 2:00 or 2:30 AND (usually) Mondays off too.
I was nowhere near so enthusiastic before I retired, but I did like to get in at about 8:00 because my co-workers (programmers) mostly dragged in after 10, so I got some uninterrupted time.
Well this Old Coot, (“Still pretty SPRY for and OLD white guy” Apologizes to the group The Offspring.) tries to be out by the crack of Civil Twilight for his old guy walk / Trek / Wandering.
I suppose i should get out in the morning but i still ride in the afternoon when it fits the schedule. I did buy an ice vest as 100s became an all-summer thing.
As a bike nut in Kansas its a little different. Even in the middle of summer its not too hot in the morning, so that, or the last time of sun are the preferred times to ride. I still appreciate my insulated water bottle, and ice cubes.
One of the advantages of living in the West is that it tends to cool off at night. Before I retired I worked for several years in the Deep South, that was brutal. It is also one of the reasons I retired in San Diego. Beaches might have had something to do with my choice as well. . .
I’m up at 3 and ride my bike at 4 am in the summer. Double headlines up a quiet canyon road where I have yet to see even one car that early. At 75, I now have zero tolerance for heat.
According to the backstory on this strip, Frazz became a successful songwriter, and the income from his music allows him to keep hanging out at his old grade school as a janitor, a job he doesn’t need but likes because it keeps him in contact with kids. But you’d never know about the music from the ratio of self-righteous exercising to tunesmithing that appears here, which I’d put at about 200:1.
It is going to be 108 today, so I got up at 06:30 to prune the roses, and weed the strawberries. Otherwise they wont get done, I will just spend the afternoon in the pool, the water is 84.

The earlier I don’t run, the more I like it.

When I did run, it had to be first thing in the morning or it didn’t happen

I like to exercise, but would rather deal with the heat than the sleep deprivation (it’s midnight now, so I’m not exactly an early to bed type).
