This water is confusing me. Is it up to April’s waist or her head? If it is up to the waist of a 3-year-old, then how is Elizabeth able to get her whole body in the water? I think what is happening is that they are in one of those wave pools, and they go under the water whenever the water goes up and the talk when the water goes down.
As a Canadian fisherman friend once told me, fish don’t talk to one another. Fish go to musical school so they can learn to sing to each other in tune – ah!
Canadians don’t swim. Their bodies are twice as dense as normal human beings. If they try to swim, they sink right to the bottom. This is well-established fact.
I once did submission monitoring for a movie mistakes website. One submission for Finding Nemo objected that fish sleep with their eyes open, not closed as in the movie. I rejected it with the remark, “You complain about this in a fantasy cartoon with talking fish?”
I remember my best friend and I trying to talk to each other under water. We were as unsuccessful as April, here. But we did discover that sound carries very well through water. We could easily hear each other’s unintelligible gurgles on opposite ends of an Olympic-size pool.
I’m glad that they explained that they were trying to communicate underwater. Judging from the quantity of bubbles, I thought it was a fart attack brought on by excessive legume consumption.
Mom told me I was pretty quiet as an infant and then one day (around 2 years old) just started speaking full sentences. Think, the full articulation of a kid older than 7 and put that talent upon a 2 year old.
This is APRIL?? “I wanna know how fish talk underwater”? A week ago she couldn’t form simple words, and now she speaks in complete, uncorrupted words and sentences??

Not with verbal words for starters, despite what you see in The Little Mermaid and Aquaman.

Has April aged significantly since last week’s comics?

Looks like it, but these are old recycled strips, it might just have skipped a few years. The Sunday ones don’t need to stick to a linear timeline.

I don’t see the difference between “Girl talk” underwater, and above water.

Wow, amazing sudden leap in communication ability. Full sentences and everything. Think she’s stopped calling herself “Aypo”?

My friend and I, both adults, tried this out. It sounded remarkably like whales.
