Okay I’ll ask…what is a jumbo Saveloy? BTW peas, mashed with a fork look and taste like something a 5 year old would do and get in trouble for. AND I have a subscription to GOOD FOOD mag. So I’m at a loss a lot of the time.
I wonder what a saveloy is. Don’t tell me. And I’m not going to look it up. I like not knowing what a saveloy is. My guess is that it’s a type of highly seasoned sausage, usually bright red, normally boiled and available in fish and chip shops around England.
What is it with the British and boiling their meat? My ex wife’s family had relatives in England. Their idea of a Sunday meal was boiled beef with salt and pepper (anything else was too spicy) and smooshed peas. One time I mentioned BBQ, their response was “Why would we want to burn our Sunday roast?” At that point I shut up and ate my boiled beef with smooshed peas.
Distinguished by its lipstick-red hue, the Saveloy is a smoked sausage with a tasty history. Originally made from pig brains (its name comes from the Old Italian cervellato, pig brain, in turn from the Latin cerebrus, brain), we’ve been guzzling it in England for centuries.
Ah, Saveloys! One of my favourite childhood snacks. As a child, I pronounced it “Sava Oils”
Haha!

That’s a wrap! First week at my new job completed. Well, it’ll technically be a week on Tuesday but who’s counting? Today I had to fill in my hours on a timesheet on an Online Portal to ensure I get paid.
This morning I done an idiotic thing and left my phone at home. Therefore I wasn’t able to open the security barriers using the app. Somebody else had to let me through. Sigh!
What, no booze? (This IS Andy we’re talking about, after all.) I’ve never had saveloys, but I do enjoy hot dogs and other sausages. I’m not having any for dinner today, though. For me, Friday is usually pizza night.

Sounds more like what we call a smoked sausage. Red and good.
