Do parents really ask their kids how their homework that night is going? I NEVER had that happen, either as a kid or as a parent! I suppose that when you are a responsible kid (and later have responsible kids) that isn’t something that’s needed. Of course I was the older son (i.e., the responsible one) that didn’t need any pushing, so that established a pattern for my “less than responsible” brother, who, since he wasn’t pushed, did very little (he was in high school when “self-paced” was in vogue, and he managed to complete a self-paced math class in a mere three years).
