Even if you don’t believe in a Omnipotent Creator, common sense, as well as bio!ogy, would point to the fact you have to have a hen & a rooster to have the hen be able to produce the egg. Then you need a hen to incubate it, or it dies. So, the chickens have to come first. (BTW; I do believe in an Omnipotent Creator, he is also Omnipresent & Omniscient. Don’t give me grief over my belief, I will never give you grief over your choices.)
If it’s a chicken egg, then the chicken came earlier. The first chicken came from two proto-chicken parents, meaning it was a proto-chicken egg, producing a chicken. But don’t teach this in Montana.

The egg came first. It was laid by something that was almost, but not quite, a chicken.

A chicken is just an egg’s way of making another egg. A cat’s-paw, so to say.
