Not cures. Treatments. If you cure them they stop buying.

Woke’s original meaning is “informed, educated and conscious of social injustice and racial inequality”. If you get some benefit from that injustice and inequality, do better; work to change the system that pits everyone against everyone else so that the rich can steal everything. If you’re not rich and your takeaway is “you’re trying to make me feel bad”, you’re being resentful and defiant at being asked to not play the game that keeps you poor.

In this cartoon, the customers are NOT the rich and powerful.

Woke is nothing more than being aware of the inequalities and to cease the propagation of them. “Guilt” is not part of woke. Guilt is anti-woke. You are not guilty for what was done in the past, you are not guilty for having a job and a good life; guilt is not part of woke. Woke is what you do when you make choices going forward.

It used to be derisively called “bleeding heart liberal”.

I wonder if the Weingartens let Duane give that bizarre definition of Woke in order to spark discussion. I think it’s working.

Oh, and yes, Woke is simply being aware of (awake) the injustices baked into our system and a desire to make our society more just and equitable.

Woke is getting up in the morning and going to a job that pays a pittance with inflation eating away at that pittance!!

I could “well, ACTUALLY” here about the real meaning of “woke”, but this definition suits advertisers and corporations perfectly.

“Woke” is being aware of the world and our history. And wanting to do better.

I hope I don’t need to point out that that’s not what “woke” means. It means treating everybody with respect even if they’re different than you.

Wokeness is a luxury for rich comfortable people to feel good about themselves. When an individual is scratching and clawing to survive and get ahead, they have minimum time and resources to care about their fellow man. This is why woke came around in the late 20th century in the western nations. The peoples have a darn good life and plenty of resources, that they can actually care about their fellow man.

It’s a technique and if you hit the right group, bingo. However, we have seen a lot of those woke decisions in advertising severely backfire. Be very wary of woke…..
