So, we have confirmation now that the million-dollar card was recently delivered in mint condition. That means that the specks we saw on it happened during the incident. I like the blue sock in the top left corner that presumably got obliterated by blood specks during the struggle.
These guys make a good effort at following traditional detective procedure, except the juicy parts they will be prohibited from showing. :-( I don’t know if it is hypnotic suggestion at work but their hats are very prominent.
So now Sam & Tracy have another mystery … how does a player on a team where other players have to hold second jobs to make ends meet come up with one million dollars to buy a baseball card?
If that messenger delivered a registered package to the victim, how does he know what was in it, and, how much it was worth? Also, why he is holding it? Shouldn’t it be in an evidence bag, and be on it’s way to the secure evidence facility?
After SOMEHOW deducing that the card had JUST BEEN DELIVERED, Tracy questions the Delivery Guy.
1-DT: My instinct told me that YOU just delivered this card today. DELIVERY DUDE: WHAT? YOU’RE A GENIUS!
2-DT: I know.
3-DUDE: When I saw what it was worth, I almost kept it. But I figured I’d be delivering something like the Mona Lisa some day so I decided to hold off till then.
4-CROSSEYED BLONDE LIZ: I’ll let you know if this is the murder weapon.
5-PATROLMAN: It’s the end of my shift so Ima hit the showers.
6-DT: I’d better watch and make sure no one bothers you. PATROLMAN: Dag. No clean towels. I’ll just use this bloody one… DT: WAIT! I’ll dry you off with my T-Shirt.
It’s just too bad first responder Waring succumbed to the gross inactivity of our esteemed Congress. It took John Stewart to embarrass them into some sort of monetary action to help these heroes deal with their myriad of health problems. RIP Sir
Could it be that the culprits were Kip Lee and “Stuffy Steffi” Bird in a Luann crossover event? d;o)
Okay, serious comment, now.
Today, we have a wet and bloody towel just outside the shower area. Could the killer either have committed the foul deed in the shower and moved the body to where we saw it earlier in the week? Or did he try to clean the blood off the towel in the shower, only to find it next to impossible (it is, indeed, hard to remove blood stains from cloth, at least that’s what I’ve read somewhere), and dropped it when he saw/heard that the police were there or on the way?
Nuremoh’s rare card is pricy at $1M, but nowhere near the top of the price range, which as of 2022 was $12.6M (for a Mickey Mantle rookie card), even exceeding the last transaction price for the fabled Honus Wagner card, $6.6M in 2021.
Meanwhile, good detective work is being done in this short-form story, as Tracy and Sam collect and evaluate evidence, question suspects, and also question such “witnesses” as the Primo Delivery driver today. For a MM, I consider this one of the best, so far….

Kevin from Primo Delivery looks a lot like a UPS driver, but he says he works for the big auction house.

“Registered Envelope” – a private currier service would be a “bonded delivery” of an item of that value. Sloppy writing.

So the motive for the murder is theft, not anger over the losing streak? Then why is the card still in the locker room?
