I suspect that in real life, Robin Hood was not as saintly as he is depicted in movies.

ALL the registered charities in Oz are listed on an ATO website, where their percentage ‘oveheads’ are tabulated. The older ones are generally well under 10%.

We annually donate to a couple of relief/conservation organizations. Would prefer it if they would drop 9 of 10 of the monthly solicitation letters, can the backpack/blanket/calendar gifts, and just concentrate on using that money for the purposes stated in their manifestos. I get that many send postage-free stuff but also believe that they are overdoing the free ride.

Early spam risk telemarketers. Only they give a lot less than 25% to the organization they claim to represent if it even exists.

I’m pretty sure Robin Hood preyed on Lawyers a little harsher than he did most others. That’s where the money is, really.

Home town was hit by a tornado – took out 1/3 with another 1/3 being damaged. The Salvation Army provided free food and furniture to all the affected families that needed help. The local churches pitched in and helped with meals and furniture. The local Red Cross helped with free coffee and sandwiches until National came in and put a halt to that – they charged for all food & drink and cots and sleeping bags were being “rented”… Every disaster – they are right there to offer support (at a price) and have the audacity to have posters next to their tent where you pay the rent to ask for donations… I donate to to the Salvation Army and local churches – that’s it…

This is why government shouldn’t be charged with taking care of the poor. I don’t think they even get 25% out of it.
