I don’t think we get smarter as we get older. We just run out of stupid stuff to do.

They probably run when they see you coming too.

There is that.

Adult friends get old. They go away and we don’t know why. Or they just die, leaving us alone again.

They’re too much work.

“Make new friends, but keep the old; one is silver, the other, gold”.

I agree, however, as more and more folks relocate to the GA coastal areas, I find most are really nice. My parish friends are like my local family as my son lives in south FL.

Friendship takes effort and time.

I am spending my summer visiting all of my remaining relatives and friends.

When you throw away everything that is not important, all that we have left is ourselves and each other. I am renewing old relationships and creating new ones.

Well Aunty, if you keep your mouth shut, problem solved.

For some reason, the older I get the fewer friends I have and the more support I need. I said “support” but perhaps I should have said allies.

I have been trying to get my husband to understand why I need to use the store’s shopping service for our groceries. Yesterday while I was shopping, I ran into an old friend. As much as I enjoyed seeing her, I thought that I would never get away from her. It is hard to explain that I don’t go to the grocery store to socialize!

You have a natural defense against making friends.

Just quote Tom Segura when someone approaches you….. “Nope, I’m all friended up!”

older friendships seemed to be more of a matter of convenience or some religious / political / cultural connection. It seems the older the person the more hardcore their opinions become and less tolerant others. Then again this seems to be true of most people today.
