I have the one pay service -Philo – which is the “cable replacement” without sports and the various “news” [news/analysis/opinion/propaganda/rant] channels. I’m grandfathered in at $16/month and there’s unlimited cloud DVR [1 month to 1 year storage]. It has what I want, some I don’t care for.

Hard to believe at one time I was paying over $200.00 a month for cable, so I can watch 5 shows on three channels every week.

I subscribe to four services, but I mostly just watch YouTube. It’s one of the four, even though I could watch it for free with ads. I’m tempted to get Hulu too so I can watch Futurama. Maybe this winter when I have more time at home.

I have more than I should have, but I’m not complaining yet. When I do, I’ll start paring them down.

I’d consider Xfinity a cable service rather than streaming.

Still have cable and pay an exorbitant price but we don’t travel or go out much so choose to spend our “vacation” money on home entertainment with multiple tv’s, dvr boxes, dvds, etc. We’ve recently tried streaming (to get college football when our cable company, which I refuse to name, took the sports channels off recently due to a dispute with a provider, who shall also remain nameless) and have had free trials of Fubo and YouTube TV. They were fun to try but we still prefer the “style of use” of cable.

I’ll watch FreeVee, Tubi and Pluto. I don’t mind the commercial breaks as you never know when you’ll need a bladder break.

I’m skeptical of all monthly subscriptions. People tend to fixate on the reasonable monthly price, forgetting that it’s gonna cost 12 times that much every year.

All you really need is Max and Hulu and Tubi; and with ads that’s like $18 (as of 2023)

Glad I’m not connected to all that. Books and youtube on history (which is crazier than fantasy/fiction), cooking, and education.

I don’t even want to think about how much I spend on the various streaming services each month. Between YouTube TV, Disney plus, peacock, HBO max, apple TV, Netflix, hulu and amazon prime, It’s enough to drive you crazy if you think about it too hard. Especially when the whole premise of streaming was that you could pay for only what you watch (I watch at least 1 show on each of the above services, but they are of course not on the same schedule so I probably could cancel them part of the year and save money – but that is a level of logistics I don’t want to spend time managing). And that it would cost less than cable! LMAO!

Just a general question, after reading these comments about streaming and cable fees: when do you find the time to watch all of that pay televsion?. We still have our antenna, and of course this connection to the internet. That’s it.

We never paid for cable or are even thinking of streaming charges. We have all the old TV shows on our TV, and then through our library we can access all the shows that our friends and/or family might suggest…

My cable is almost $200 a month now – only my husband watches it. I do need the included internet connection, but it’s is getting out of hand.

The only steaming service I pay for is Frndly. A lot of older shows I like on the various channels and have an antenna for local but we only seem to use it for Packers games.

I pay $$$ each month for the privilege of being able to click through several hundred channels before declaring nothing’s on and turning the TV off.

When cable first came out, it promised to give you tons of channels. Then they started splitting off into more and more different “packages” associated with all these “premium” channels. It got increasingly expensive to watch the things you actually wanted to watch, while the basics stuff was just a whole lotta basically the same crap. Then Netflix moved beyond its original DVD-by-mail scheme and introduced a streaming service that changed the game; people started dropping those expensive cable packages for a single streaming service they could watch. And then new streaming services started coming, and now the problem is so, so, so much worse than it ever was with the cable packages.
