The earliest references to a ‘red carpet’ can be traced back as far as Ancient Greece in 458 BC. In the Greek tragedy play “the Oresteia”, Clytemnestra laid out a red carpet to welcome home her husband, Agamemnon. (the mask of whom is shown above). In the times of the Ancient Greeks, red was seen as a colour of the gods, thus making it a welcoming and warm colour. Shortly after the play was released, many painters began using red carpets in their work to illustrate royalty or wealth.
This gives me a flashback to the carpet runner that was covering up a hole in a restaurant. It looked normal. I stepped over the hole and my foot sunk into it and I fell, since I had expected my foot to move along with me. My broken ankle healed, although in winter it aches some. My knees will never be the same and were supposed to be replaced 3 years ago. I did have surgery on one, but I still have the originals and walk every day. My wrists were also damaged, and twice again this month, but I never had them checked out. I don’t feel any fondness for carpet runners. I would prefer to see the actual flooring.

You missed your chance, carpet…you could have wrapped up The Fink and flown him somewhere where he’d never be heard from again!

Nobody does carpets anymore – it’s a “hardwood floor” world now. Not sure why.
