I risk trouble when I say this, but my opinion of the January 6 protesters/rioters would probably be very different if they were fighting for one of MY causes.

Anyone who thinks that both sides (aka the left and the right) are the same is a stupid a-hole. At worst, the “left” can be annoying and ineffectual at inspiring collective action. At worst, the right are nazis who want to liquefy the homeless until the planet is destroyed.

I’m a leading edge boomer, unreconstructed new lefty and hippie. I was also a history major so I’m cynical about revolutions. Even so I can’t help thinking that we’d be better off if we offed some people. I know I’m wrong but it’s emotionally attractive.

I will say this much: TTDB took a steep turn towards mediocrity when Mr. Bolling, around the time of Trump’s election, decided to join various other artists and publications (looking at you, New Yorker) in producing repetitive agitprop rather than the previous absurdist humor.
