I knew it. Very soon they will be surrounded by a task force, with one of them yelling “give yourself up” through a bull horn. At best, Bear will end up in a zoo (if they don’t fill him full of lead first), and the kid will end up in an institution. Not the typical relentless optimism of the Alley, to be certain. But if they get a happy ending, that will almost be a first in such settings.

I dunno… I think it’s just as likely that those two case workers get back to the office, try to tell their tale…

And get a supervisor who knows from experience saying:

“I told you you’d regret going into that place. Buncha nutters, all of them.”

The Bear’s victory is short lived while Jonesy is completely oblivious to what is about to go down.

The authorities will come now, maybe even the police!

I can’t remember ever dealing with a government person where there was a happy ‘ending’ – there might be some happy moments, but don’t remember happy endings – but there is always HOPING for one that is better than expected

From today’s Comics Curmudgeon:

iI’s true that troubles are just starting, both for the bear (revelation that talking bears are seizing human children will end in the state intervening with maximum force) and the rest of us (Human-Bear Wars will last most of the 21st century, leave the earth a depopulated wasteland).

Oh, brother.

Speaking of troubles just starting, the Gannett newspapers have announce strips being cut from their papers. It looks like almost all the continuity (story) strips will be gone – Dick Tracy, and yes Gasoline Alley. I have no idea how many non-Gannett papers carry the Alley, but it doesn’t look good for non-comedy.

It’s at the point where it would be downright cruel to take the kid away.

Bureaucrats. Bah,humbug!!

But they taste great with ketchup.

Enough already. This storyline has ran its course, end it mercifully, please.
