Marry hated sitting in the cafe by herself, so she always brought along a mannequin to seat across from herself.

Evangeline, sweetheart, that green isn’t doing you any favors.

By the window they sat and conversed/

And the news Clarisse got was the worst !/

Though she strove for control/

she did not win the role/

although she had madly rehearsed.///

Oh how could she ever extend/

congrats to her fortunate friend?/

Must she play understudy/

to her old bosom buddy ?/

To what depths is she doomed to descend?///

A solution’s beginning to grow/

Though she wishes it wouldn’t – and so/

she will make it her mission/

to remove “competition”/

and she does – and she stars in the show !///

Later on, can she summon the will/

and her now vaunted thespian skill/

to disguise from a jury/

her pure white hot fury /

And the envy that drove her to kill ?

I have writers block. If I sit in the sun maybe I’ll get sweaty and take a cold shower and get over myself. I’m not that valuable to aociety.

Bernice went and bobbed her hair

She had done the deed on a dare

Her cousin was crafty and jealous

When Bernice got the attention of fellas

That the cousin didn’t want to share!

The stunt of course did backfire

The effect left a lot to desire

Before 1920 long hair was pretty

Much proof of a girl’s femininity

And short hair could lead to hellfire.

Poor Bernice wore a cap for a while

Until short hair then soon came into style

Her reputation no longer imperiled …

Their luncheon on Wednesday was filled with conversation about their plans for Friday night. They both worked as secretaries for a top Wall Street brokerage and had high hopes, dreams, and schemes of marrying a couple of high-flying traders.

Little did they realize that tomorrow, Thursday, Oct.24th, 1929 would send their dreams crashing to the ground.

Ah, Hopper! He (along with Rene Magritte and Ivan Albright) is my favorite painter.
