Always take mine off when doing repair work around the house especially electrical. I always tell the wife where I put it because I will forget. Many, many years ago I worked with liquid mercury and my wedding ring actual fractured because some mercury had escaped the test stand and found its way into my ring.
I learned to take it off when I was on a softball team. One time I caught a ball and the ring broke apart. Gold is too soft to resist a line drive that hits it just right.
I grew up in a factory town. One of the more common injuries was losing the ring finger because the ring caught on the machinery. Many married men didn’t wear their rings. It was accepted.
My wife (at that time) asked me the same question. I wasn’t having an affair. (I worked with high voltage so I didn’t wear my ring). I later found out from several friends that my wife was having an affair. Life is strange sometimes.

She’s actually flattering him by letting him think another woman would even be interested in him.

My uncle lost his finger when his ring caught on a bolt as he was jumping from the bed of a stake bed truck.

I had to replace my wedding ring years ago. Who knew gold could shrink?

It seems to me that the whole wedding ring affair is an anachronistic sentimental cultural tradition that’s past its time.
