Yes it’s only fair that you split the work. I wonder in how many homes today it was the same old story of women doing EVERYTHING while the men come to the table and eat and do nothing to help out.
I still think one of the reasons women live longer than men is because they tend to be the ones who will get up right after meals and be on their feet and moving, doing dishes, cleaning up, and putting things away. Men, probably more than half, are more likely to go sit down. I think the dynamic is changing, though. More men are getting involved with meals.
Mom and kids made dinner at our house. Kids did all the cleaning, before, during and after dinner. Adults relaxed once the food was ready (mom got the turkey in the oven, kids made stuffing and peeled potatoes, frozen peas, cranberry space goo, dinner rolls homemade while kids were at school, desserts made while kids at school).
In our family (4 boys, married w/ kids), the wives did all the cooking but the men’s did the clearing, washing and bringing the coffee to the ladies while they sat at the dining’s table. Lol, last time the ladies were comparing how small the men’s butt were.

When I eat out, always feel bad that my dogs aren’t there to lick the plate.

Glad to see Buckles doing his share of the work. And he seems to be enjoying it too, so who can blame him?

I clean as I go and then the rest go in the dishwasher. My husband is always glad to help.

My parents alternate in cooking and cleaning. They’re both so good that I can’t tell the difference.
