There is a religious following of pumpkins? I withdraw my question! But I’ll still post

Is the pumpkin patch a public building housing some government function? No? Then why would the freedom from religion folks care?

How dumb, there is no freedom from religion, any of them. Most of them are pushy.

When have the “freedom from religion” people ever had the power or the authority to order anything taken down? Now, the Christian right has taken away rights from half the population, so that’s power.

Only if it was government property would that come up.

And in other places (like Florida), you’d have them ban it in schools because it teaches ‘the wrong thing’ (aka, not their version of Christianity)

Is it a Religion if only one person observes?

It’s a kid, holding a homemade sign in a pumpkin patch, Scott. Why would the “Freedom From Religion” people care?

Now if he was trying to spend millions of taxpayer dollars to erect a religious monument, or fund a church or build a religious school, then yes, NOT ONLY the “Freedom From Religion” people ought to care but also ALL the people who believe in their own religious freedom.

Only a FOOL would want the government involved in religion. Picking your minister. Deciding which dogma was “correct”. Judging which books are appropriate for the Bible. Deciding which Bible to teach in our schools.

Just look at First Corinthians 13 Scott, the so called “Three Theological Virtues”. Faith, Hope and Charity/Love.

Whenever my father in law would visit someone he would always try to sneak a peek in their Bible, (if it wasn’t the King James version) to see if it said Faith/Hope/Charity or Faith/Hope/Love because the first was how the good old King James version said it and all other Bibles were WRONG if they said it otherwise.

As far as he was concerned anything but King James was WRONG. And he would certainly have gone down fighting if told he had to use anything else, such as the Bible used by the Roman Catholic Church.

Our government MUST guarantee Freedom FROM Religion as well as Freedom of Worship. It is how we PROTECT those who DO wish to worship.

I’m sort of surprised the “freedom of religion as long as it’s the same religion as mine” folks haven’t lynched him

“Freedom from religion” in the sense “Freedom from you or the government imposing your religion on me, and vice versa” should leave Linus in the clear. “Freedom from religion” in the sense “Freedom from ever even being aware of any religion’s existence” may actually be demanded by some, but I doubt it.

The Great Pumpkin is in no small part satirical commentary on silly supernatural/religious notions humans unnecessarily burden themselves with. The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) and other secularist groups have no reason to not enjoy the humor of The Great Pumpkin cartoons.

Linus is not a government or representative there of, I doubt FFR would have any interest in this. You are free to believe as you will, you are not free to force your religion on others, with or without the force of government.
