What is “Black Arbor Day”? And why is this a joke? And before you yell “Then make your own strip!” is Crank being written by ChatGPT? I could write this strip if “String random words together once a day, sit on that for 11 months, then make a good artist draw it with 2 weeks notice” was the mission statement. Which it apparently is.
I at first found this amusing. But then I started thinking, it’s not all that funny.
For one thing, wouldn’t an etailer like Bean’s End more likely have a Cyber Monday sale? That’s what most etailers do.
For another, why would Bean’s End wait till Arbor Day (April 26th) to have a sale? The Christmas Holidays are the busiest commerce period of the year. Not to mention that I bet many gardeners have already started on their gardens for the year. And don’t many gardeners do maintenance on their plots during the winter?
I tired of the whole "Black Friday thing years ago. The stores advertise “door busters,” but only have 10. Then they put different things on sale at different times so you’d have to stay for 12 hours. But the capper was the year the poor guy at Walmart got trampled to death by the crown when he unlocked the door. I shop online now.

Doesn’t make any sense to me. Is Bean’s End a department store or a nursery?
