In the clothing store the other day, I was suddenly accosted by a large shabbily-dressed and unpleasant looking man who scowled at me in a threatening manner who then headed directly towards me with clearly villainous intent and head-butted me in the nose.
It was a mirror.
So I put on my glasses, then went home and trimmed my beard.
I’m far-sighted and one day I was almost home from the gym (10 min) before I realized I left my glasses on the counter in the locker room. I couldn’t read a sign and realized it then.
I don’t think that wearing glasses is makes you look smart, Opal. That’s the lie parents tell their child when they have to wear glasses for the first time.
It looks like the whole load is just towels. As for modern dryers, those new fancy ones are expenses just waiting to get you. The more bells and whistles, the more to go wrong and cost you. We had to get a new set about 4 yrs ago and I wanted jut the basic settings with dials. No keypad – replacing those is $$$$.
I bought a clock for “seniors” with HUGE glowing numbers, the brightness selectable. At first it was too bright and made the whole room look green ;-) It’s set perfectly now and I just need to roll my head to the right to know the time.

I always fold clothes standing up, because the folded clothes go into different piles.

“Oh, Nelson. There you are; I was wondering why your breath smelled like that.”

Typically when someone loses their sight, their other senses become better attuned to help compensate.
What I’m saying here is that Opal should have smelled the dog breath.

I have Gramma’s problem each morning when trying to read the bedside clock, so I have to rely on my bladder to tell me when it’s time to get up.

Of course Opal couldn’t find her glasses. She wasn’t wearing her glasses.

Find your glasses quickly, Opal. Maybe Earl or Nelson can help you.

I prefer to do my folding on the tops of the washer and dryer. Nice height and workspace.

A conversation between my parents, in their late ’70s or ear;y ’80s; him first:
“I don’t think you should drive anymore with your eyes how they are.”
“I’m fine; I can see the big things.”
“It’s the little things I’m worried about – and what you’ll say to the parents of that 5-year-old who ran out in front of you.”
“Oh….”
She never drove again.

Woah! If she can’t tell her grandchild from the dog even without her glasses then she’s got some real problems there.

Ah, Smart Glasses.
I always preferred dating pretty, smart girls who wore glasses as opposed to pretty, dumb girls who refused to wear glasses and bumped into things. :)
There were girls who wore contact lenses but they were always talking about them, putting eyedrops in them or looking for them during a date.
(More than 60% of U.S. population has vision that needs correction of some kind.)
