My mom was a schoolteacher. She knew all of my teachers, personally & professionally. There’s not a thing I could’ve ever done at school that she wouldn’t have found out about .. so I never even tried to cheat on any tests.
Not only is my answer no, never even considered it, but I’m shocked by Heart’s mom. Who does that? I know who cheated at our school, it wasn’t a mystery, and the individuals at our school who had answers in their shoes were all kind of gross and pitiable, real mouth breathers. I got asked if I would let people cheat off me a lot and it was never a good kind of people who asked. Not the sort of people I was ever friends with in the first place.
Some tests I had inadvertently had the answers to some questions in other questions. One spelling test in first grade had you spell the word “page”, even though it had printed “page 1” or “page 2” at the bottom. I read about how one guy “cheated” on his test because on the wall there was a poster about studying, and it had a picture of a guy taking the very same test he was taking, and so he copied the answers from the poster.
Yuck! “I did it, but you shouldn’t”? “A mistake”? No remorse. No self-reflection, honesty, or empathy. If I were Heart, Mom’s response would be an excuse which increases the temptation to cheat.
