They get so excited.

If you’d just get in the pen he’d stop it.

A Collie has got to do what a Collie has got to do

Must have gotten into Bopeep’s cocaine!

Sheep is a singular and a plural noun. The dog’s just doing his job.

If you think Border Collies are excitable, try a German Shorthaired Pointer. Never a dull moment.

No cooling at the borders.

If there’s only one sheep, the dog hasn’t been doing its job properly and has let the others get away.

When I moved to my current place almost 20 years ago, a neighbor on a nearby corner kept a Border Collie in the fenced side yard that faced the main street. The dog would lie in wait for someone to come walking or riding a bike down the sidewalk & try to “herd” them down the street from behind the fence. He was ever-so-serious in his “work,” but it never failed to crack me up!

OK dog, you’ve been herd!

Still working to earn his keep!
