I hate to seem reactionary but I’ve been moving to hard copies of photos for a while – I figure generations to come are much more likely to come across a photo album (properly annotated of course) than a google drive.
I would rather look at hard copy photos than wait while someone scrolls endlessly through their smartphone looking for a picture. And eventually the phone dies, breaks gets lost, etc.
I have quite a few albums, each labeled with the occasion – Colonial Fair 1985, Trip to Wales, various dollhouses, etc. It is so easy to find what I want without lugging my laptop around. Twice, I’ve put pictures on-line – Picture Trail was one – and both times the site closed down.
Amateures! Mrs has a friend who will periodically bring her laptop to me so I can transfer her 10’s of thousands of photos to thumb drives. I tell her, they will be temporary on there unless she plugs them in once in a while. Those 10’s of thousands of photos she will not delete a one, even if it is not a picture worth keeping. Yes, she hoards, everything. Her house is proof.
My wife doesn’t like Kindles, but one time when she said she’d packed a book for the holiday in the suitcase, I said I’ve packed books as well – all 360 of them.
I have the pioneer deluxe cover photo album. It holds up to 500 assorted-size photos [ holds prints up to 8 X 10 ].I also have photos on my Ipad and Facebook.

Recommend getting a cloud backup service in case your phone goes kaput.

I have about 3,000 photographs in what should be a linen closet.
Now that I am retired, I should scan at least some of them.
I also have hundreds of photos saved on CD. Those CDs are reaching the end of their lives.

I scanned all the albums and have 5 backups. I also gave the family copies on flash drives.

Scanned the photos that were shot with the old instamatic cameras that used the 126 film. The prints and negatives tended to turn pink over time

All that I know is that no electronic data survives from the Roman Empire. Hard copies rule for long term storage.
