I’ve been called a couple of times but never had to serve. My wife has been called many times, has served, and keeps getting called the second her exemption (for having served) expires. She got called for two different juries just last week and now has to sort that out.

No thanks. My jury duty in Federal Court starts December 1st. I wouldn’t mind serving, only trouble is I have to drive about 200 miles to get there.

The last time I reported for jury duty, I had four hours to read a whole book in one sitting! Then we were all excused. Fabulous morning. Though I really would like to serve at least once.

Now that I am retired from corrections, I was wondering if there is such a thing as professional juror.

He’ll have a pretty easy time being knocked out in voir dire.

Called several times, I served once. A drug related attempted murder. I learned way, way more about the drug culture and the undercurrents swirling all around us that are unseen and unknown to the average citizen than I ever wanted to. It affected my sleep for weeks. Felt almost like I wanted to stay up every night and guard the premises.

The courts loved my brother and he was called every time he was in the jury pool. I never got past the jury selection.

    Cruel and unusual punishment.
