Two years ago friends cut down a ‘little’ pine tree growing too close to their house (insurance reasons) so we took it for our Christmas tree. Carried it home on top of the RAV 4, which it dwarfed! The tree was just over ten feet tall so I installed it on the deck facing the street, the only place with head space for it. Best tree we’ve had, but it meant extra Christmas lights.
My wife picked one a long time ago. It dragged on the ground when I tried to put it in the trunk of a ’62 Ford, I had to lay it crosswise and take up two lanes. When I got it home and stood it up outside it was two feet over the roof.
One of the segments on “Inside Edition” this week was about a buggy Christmas tree. The fresh Christmas tree that an Ohio family took home from a tree farm turned out to be a breeding ground for praying mantises, spawning hundreds of newly-hatched insects soon after being set up in the living room.
