Radar guns ARE doppler. That’s how they work.

I’ve always wondered if officers that use RADAR suffer a higher rate of cataracts.

    Then there’s a 50/50 chance that I wasn’t speeding.

His wife told him not to get the red convertible sports car. It’s a ticket magnet.

Traveling through Iowa once and my radar detector went off . I slowed to right at speed limit. Cop was on overpass with radar gun. I waved at him as I went by.

In case you were wondering: “A Doppler radar is a specialized radar that uses the Doppler effect to produce velocity data about objects at a distance.” —Wikipedia. “Regular” radar just tells you an object is there and how far away it is. So as stated above, police radar guns have always been Doppler.

I took a Physics of Acoustics class in college. Granted, we were dealing with sound waves, not radio waves, but the Doppler Effect is still interesting.

What’s the problem? This does look like Montana so going some laid-back 78 ain’t no trouble, innit?

Well obviously rain forecast was wrong so the speed must be wrong too.

Word to the wise…those radar guns can be waaay off, even after being recalibrated. I was stopped going 47 in a 45 zone and his gun read 61! Fortunately he was a real nice guy and let me off with a warning…otherwise it would’ve been worth it for me to fight it in court…(I have a good attorney friend who loves his job!)

Does any else recall when some patrolmen were setting the radar gun in their active lap. Some developed testicular cancer. Imagine if the power level was high enough to match the range of weather radar.

I’m somewhat of an authority on automobiles. I can tell, for instance, just by looking at a car’s headlights, what direction he’s coming from.
