The worst Spanish accent is the Argentinian one, or so I’ve heard. There are some variations among the regions, but hearing some Argentinians speak just makes my skin crawl.

The Good Lord be merciful unto my preferring Boston & Cambridge to New York City where my mother and her younger siblings were born in prior to the Great Depression – amen!!

I think New York gets a lot of votes because many more people visit there than Alabama.

I was in Boston many years ago, working on a project with a transplanted Aussie. We took a cab ride with a “Pahk the cah in the Hahvahd Yahd” cabbie, and throwing in my Texas accent—it was an interesting conversation!

Why not separate New York accents? Bronx, Midtown…

Not being from NYC, my experience with accents is some limited to my relatives but it seems to be not just one but many different accents. Some are revolting but I’ve heard some that sound kind of sweet in a way. I guess that upbringing and environment determines the speaker’s speech patterns.

Boston accent ugh

As someone from New York, I have to ask, WHICH accent? There are several accents associated with my fair city, even more if you pull back to the entire state. The statue of liberty in the comic is clearly doing a Brooklyn accent, which is the stereotypical “New York” one you’d see in most movies and TV shows, WHEN YOU WANT TO MAKE A NEW YORKER LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT, but us Bronxites have a totally different accent, which is different from Manhattan’s, Long Island’s, Upstate, etc. I gotta say, I’m actually offended that out of all the distinct accents you can find around here we’ve come to be associated with the one they use for characters specifically to sound like idiots on sitcoms.
