So remember guys, Don’t be a Brad… Be a Kit!But now I have the movie ‘Better off Dead’ stuck in my mind. Why? Language Lessons. LOL But nothing here has anything to do with that movie.
Do we have the snack room ready for Robin? Those of us on Patreon were told to get it ready for Christmas Eve. I put some of my delicious brownies in there for him to enjoy.
I love “Our IX Lives”. Great rescue by Kit, getting Angora away from the evil Brad. The patch Kit sports makes me think of Steve “Patch” Johnson from my Mom’s favorite soap “Days of Our Lives” and his romance with Kayla Brady! Miss you Mom. Merry Christmas to all the BCN orbsters!
Angora is having an almost classic “hat popping off” episode when Brad startles her in panel 3. Also, the chalet’s balcony is apparently on a walkway above the stone floor. Very intriguing.
Yay! My favorite soap, is back! I would not have noticed the Cat ears, on the chalet, if our Robin(who does not care for such, soapy nonsense) had not pointed that out!
We are having a “Call for Rudolph” Christmas Eve. Second day of dense fog and temps near 60F when what used to be normal would have been 30+ degrees colder. Good thing it’s a flying sled too, snow is AWOL too.
Merry Christmas Eve to everyone here at the Orb! It’s going to get crazy later at my house so I thought I’d say that now. I’ve pulled my rib roast from the fridge, it had been ageing since Wednesday in there. The shrimp is on the dish, the deviled eggs are plated, the mouse in the oven drawer has been trapped and will be released shortly and the kids will start showing up in a few hours. By ten, when Christmas Vacation has been watched, the food has been eaten, everything’s been cleaned up and people have left, I’ll be ready to crash. So I hope everyone has a wonderful day today however you celebrate and a Merry day tomorrow. God Bless Us, Everyone! :)
Georgia posted on Facebook (It refers to a video there of her daughter being delighted with the comic). I am very impressed she first wrote the story when she was 13! “I took this video about three weeks ago. The Girl woke up from a bad dream while I was editing the scans of my watercolor paintings. She was “quality control,” which is what the kids and I call it when they get to read the comic before it’s published and give me feedback. This one was a hit! I explained a bit more on my Patreon about this story. Simply told here, I wrote this Christmas story when I was 13 years old! Back then I used another set of characters Trevor’s Woman and I used to write with. It was the first story I wrote where it felt like foreshadowing/set up and pay off/and plotting all came together. As strange as the little story was, it stayed with me as one of my earliest wins writing-wise, and so I wanted to pay it a little tribute this year! On the BCN Patreon I spoke more about that other set of characters and what the first plot looked like. I’m planning another post that will detail how the story was similar and how it was different. If you’d like to know more of the writing process behind this story arc and others, you can subscribe to the BCN Patreon here: >
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it! NORAD has begun tracking Santa on his travels around the world. It’s so fun to watch, for both kids and adults! https://www.noradsanta(dot)org/en/map
For all of you who are turning into your parents, if you can figure out what song this is a parody of, you definitely are a candidate to star with Dr. Rick in a Progressive Insurance Commercial.
Tonight will be the Christmas Eve ritual—Stouffer’s turkey dinner. And a date with Jimmy Stuart at 8 p.m. But first, a run to Dollar General to see if they have Sheba cat food. If not, God help me, it’ll mean a trip to Kroger or Walmart. Tucker is suddenly in one of his finicky phases and it’s very important to keep him eating so whatever it takes. Even if the last-minute crowds give mama a panic attack…
A lot of chat on here today. I sense pre-Xmas procrastination! Get those presents wrapped, folks! And maybe you have something that needs overnight brining?Happy Christmas Eve!
As I read today’s strip, I noticed Kit on the lower level in the first panel. But when I saw Angora’s name being screeched in the third panel, I thought “No way that’s Kit!”
And no, it wasn’t!
What a perfect story, with Brad getting squelched and Kit making off with his delighted ladylove!
I’ve forgotten who, but I exchanged a couple of comments with someone (I think here) regarding the Emily trilogy by L. M. Montgomery recently. Quite coincidentally, it seems that its the 100th anniversary of the publishing of the first Emily book and The New York Times book review today had a two-page article about it! Apparently, Montgomery felt that it was her best and it most mirrored her personal life.
Not a cat and I don’t like dogs, but I got a notification on Facebook that someone I went to high school with has a daughter who lost her dog. No word yet on whether it was found.
“Our IX Lives” sounds good for us that are going through tough times in relationships. Georgia, what do you think about reviving “Our IX Lives” for us that are relationship deprived, and just want a good ol’ romantic story? With kitties of course.

Will some kind younger soul explain to this ancient crone what “left me on read” means? I’m inferring it’s not something good.

Has anybody else noticed the size of that “diamond”? Or is it Diamonique®? Glass? Maybe it’s actual ice and will melt!

Oh Little Town of Bethlehem
Oh, cat friends in the Big Pink House
Who bring us all the news
All dreaming of the treats to come
As this year soon concludes
We think of all the conflicts occurring through this year
Now enemies becoming friends
We now see our way all clear.
…….
This season shows there’s always hope
To cast our fears aside
Though owls and moles did take their toll
Yet peace and love abides!
Remembering this season
Of One whose gift was sent
For all the world with love unfurled
Oh, let us n’er forget!

Skiing down the slopes,
Angora in his arms,
Barely missed a tree,
With consternation and alarm,
Brad she left behind,
With Kit she will stay,
The wind in her face,
Her hair getting in the way,
.
Ohhhhhhh Jingle cats, jingle cats
jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ski
When you are running away,
Ohhhhhhh Jingle cats, jingle cats
jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ski
When you are running away,
.
The cliff he did not see,
Her hair was in his eyes
But he was so in love
He was taken by surprise,
As he skirted round a tree,
As deftly as can be,
And now Kit and Angora,
Are on life number three.
.
Ohhhhhhh Jingle cats, jingle cats
jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ski
When you are running away,
Ohhhhhhh Jingle cats, jingle cats
jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ski
When you are running away,
.
