My Grandma got a call from “me” once, when “I” was stuck in Peru for “Dave’s wedding” (I don’t know a Dave) and needed $1000 right away (no specific reason). “I” didn’t sound like myself because of “my” broken nose. When she called me to confirm this, I of course told he it was a scam, and to tell them she would have to wait for the Nigerian Prince to come through on his promises first.
That happened to my Mom every so often, only it was calls from the grandchildren (my kids) saying they were in jail and needed money. Fortunately, she’d call me to make sure it was a scam.
I have never gotten a call like that (no grandkids anyway.) I always thought my response to the “I’m in jail & need bail money” would be – I told you this would happen. Just stay there & serve your time.
I got an email from someone claiming to be my nephew and having been robbed in Madrid, Spain and needed me to send him $1,500 now. I emailed back: “I have wired the money; you can pick it up at the Madrid police station.”

And if he did have grandkids, they would’ve also forgotten that they have a grandfather.

Or does he just not remember the grandkids?

Somebody’s been playing with his memory.

Someone tried this scam with my father years ago.
His response to them was “I only have one grandson and I am looking right at him.”
Their response was to quickly hang up the phone.

They better increase Oldbot’s RAM, or he’ll fall for the same scam again in a month or two.

I wonder if Old Geek would fall for this.

Oldbot is so old that he only has a megabite of memory…if he can remember where he put it.

Wonder how he wired it. Probably an internal Wifi

Don’t worry, they’ll call back! After all, you didn’t send them ALL your money. yet.
