Our recipe for fruitcake has been handed down from my mother and is the finest, made with a french brandy and finely chopped candy peel and nuts. Impossible to resist.
Have great memories of some family friends always giving our family a “Claxton” fruit cake every year. We hated it and would laugh about it later. But, in recent years I’ve discovered they still make them and tried one for old times sake and they’re actually good! They come in a long “loaf” about 2 inches square and are great for cutting off bite size pieces and serving with coffee or whatever.

I have never tried one made by Benedictine monks, though I have heard they are quite good.

Will it outlast the cockroaches after the end of humanity? I figure they won’t be able to eat it.

I’ll have you know I make excellent fruitcakes. I have to make a second batch as demand has outstripped supply this year.

My wife makes amazing fruitcake – the whole family loves it. Despite the bad press, good fruitcake is fantastic (but bad fruitcake is a brick).

Saw fruitcake at my local market last week selling for $29.99 for a 30 ounce cake. Good thing you only have to buy it once.

Little known fact (that I created): fruitcakes are not baked; they’re actually mined in Indonesia and Bolivia.

My dad used to make fruitcake. I’m not sure if anyone in the family ever ate it, but he made it every year.

my wife makes the best…all real ingredients (no candy garbage)…and the rum and cream sherry makes it to die for! (or live for!)

This explains a lot. Dr Frankenstein created fruitcake as a revenge Christmas present for the villagers that chased his monster.
