Sanctimonious Samuel here: I got my shopping done by a week after Thanksgiving… and only that late because we do the “secret Santa” drawing on Turkey day.
Don’t know about the malls but the supermarkets were lined from entry doors to checkout yesterday. Everybody getting ready for something they plan. Hope it works out OK.
My family all live out west and I am in Michigan, I got tired of the USP guy’s eye roll when I would ask for a gift to be delivered by Christmas, so now I shop early. This year I ask for gifts that were consumable because I have enough stuff. My nephew and niece sent a package in a Costco size box of frosted mini wheats. Not going to open it. I’m putting it under the tree as is.
I’m retired and now living in northern Nevada. Been in NV for 20 years. When I lived in the L.A. area I used to enjoy going to several malls at Christmas time-Newport Fashion Island because of the diversity of shopping choices and Glendale Galleria because of its huge size and, again, diversity of shopping options. Now I use the internet. The “malls” in the area suck! From what I’ve seen on the media, mall’s apparently are a thing of the past. Too bad!

My parents eloped on December 24th, and for years they had to celebrate on another day because no restaurants were open on Christmas Eve.

On another note from the ‘toon: Being 20th century seems to be a pothole-ridden road I just can’t avoid. Embarrassing, the things I put my foot in.
