We had heard a car hood made a good sled, so… Dad wasn’t too upset, but he did ask that we put the hood back on the old truck before the rain and snows came…

Of limited value. This ignores the Mass*Velocity equation that compresses an adults spinal cord when landing at 32 feet per second per second.
