Or, you look in a place, can’t find it after awhile, continue searching, then come back to a place you looked , but can’t remember if you looked there, so you look again. This can go on for quite some time
I had that experience Thursday with the brush we use to groom our little puppies…It took us half an hour to finally find it when we gave up looking for it…

WAY back before cell phones (early 80’s) I couldn’t find the phone.
Had just bought a cordless.
Found it in the freezer next to the ice.
