I love to see Iggy singing. I was hoping he would sing some Catmass carols, but His Storm Song is beautiful! He sang the power back to life! That’s one POWERful voice!
He was singing when Bea first found him in the BPH. I don’t remember if it was storming or not – maybe there’s a pattern here. I love “hearing” him. And I love that red coat.
I love this! Iggy is adorable singing. We live in a modular home (not a mobile home) and it’s so solid, by the time we hear the wind blowing, it’s got to be blowing at least 40-50mph and even then, it’s not very loud. The house is really solid. I love the sound, husband hates the wind. I tried using ‘blowing wind’ on my sound settings to fall asleep to and my husband would have none of that! So Shorty sits on her little stool and watches the evergreens sway outside her upstairs window. Beau could care less. But it’s relentlessly windy up here anyway, so maybe that’s why. We’re a weird family, I know.
Puckmosis: Great! Pasta with fresh tomato storm sauce!
Beatrixia: Did we find out the source of the sauce?
Puck: Yes. Trevor-Hotep had brought his new crop of Winter Tomatoes here when the storm came up.
Elvis-Anum: So the storm made tomato sauce out of his crop. Are there any left?
Puck: He still has another crop at the Cosmo Nursery. We may still have Winter Tomato Salad this winter.
Bea: And now we’ll have entertainment with Iggy and his cousin Ziggy, with a tumbling routine from Pink Lupinium.
After the Dinner
Serfg-Aro: Your Majesty and honored Cat Colleagues! It gives me great pleasure to present tonight’s entertainment, with a special song written by our own Iggy Shipwright!
I am now listening to They Call the Wind Maria, from the outstanding musical Paint Your Wagon. Lyrics by Lerner & Loewe, sung by the baritone Harve Presnell.
I thought about what song fit OZ, and the only one that came to mind was “Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin. For Marvel fans, that’s the screaming and haunting background music to Thor facing Hela’s dead warriors after he gets his mojo back in THOR: RAGNAROK. So much energy and violence in the song, very like OZ’s tortie energy.
Totally OT question because this place is full of nerds. The new Doctor Who specials have a new version of the end credits music. My sister claims that there are words and that it’s saying ‘Doctor Who’ over and over again. I claim this is obvious nonsense and, in fact, the track is wordless panting in time to panic-running, because that’s what you do in the Whoniverse. Opinions? anyone who’s watched/listened.
I got to touch the yard kitten today, for the first time! Little Miss Mina got very close as I was feeding the yard cats this morning, so I reached out and stroked her. She has such soft fur!
Of course she skittered out of reach immediately – but a little more progress.
We just started getting real snow that is sticking after ineffectual flurries earlier. Still the forecast is for less than an inch. It’s gently drifting down in big fat flakes with no wind. Might pretty things up at least. This is NE Iowa.
Must be a northern thing. When the power goes out here, it NEVER comes back on until long after the storm has passed. Sometimes days after.
Fortunately we seldom get winter weather. Unfortunately, it often only takes rain and wind to knock out power. (A blight attacking the roots of the red oak is not helping matters).

I was driving along in a driving rain (of course!) and the wind came up behind me and asked if he could pass. I said, “Be my gust”,,,

Since Iggy played “Phantom,” we should have known he would sing.

From Back in the Day: Gogi Grant: The Wayward Wind
The Wayward Wind is a stormy wind
A stormy wind that has its sayings
And Iggy heard and understood
He understood
The Wayward Wind
…….
In a Rhode Island town in the Big Pink House
When the power went out he was there
On the window sill he was napping there
When he heard the call of the Wayward Wind!
…….
The Wayward Wind is a stormy wind
A stormy wind that has its sayings
And Iggy heard and understood
He understood
The Wayward Wind
…….
Iggy heard the song through the whole night long
And quickly he joined in
It’s as if he knew exactly what to do
As the power soon
Was restored again!
…….
The Wayward Wind is a stormy wind
A stormy wind that has its sayings
And Iggy heard and understood
He understood
The Wayward Wind

Don’t know why there are tomatoes flying by
Stormy Weather!
Since we got a dinner together
Let it be raining all the time!

They Call the Wind Mariah
Away in a Rhode Island town
A Big Pink House is right there
Within is a family of cats who run and nap everywhere
There is Elvis, the patriarch, and Puck the voice of reason
And Goldie and Lupin who fight no matter what the season!
…….
One day two kittens who were on the run found the house and entered
They needed food and warmth and rest, a noble ghost sent them there
…….
Iggy and Ora Zella, the kittens have arrived there!
…….
Soon the kittens (uh, smol cats) found their home, with love and chaos friend them
A New England storm arose and soon the power ended
But Iggy knew just what to do, he sang and the storm replied
The power was again restored, now safely we all abide!
…….
Iggy and Ora Zella, the kittens have arrived there!
