NOT the way to train a dog. We took our dog out every two hours and praised him up and down when he went. Took less than a month and he was fine in the house. You train a dog to on Papers and your training him to go in the house. Sure we lost some sleep, but so much better results.
What do puppy owners use these days, since print newspapers are being phased out? Our local paper no longer sells single copies. It’s either by subscription sent through USPS, or electronic. With USPS, the Sunday edition, for example, needs to be printed by Wednesday, in order to be received on Saturday! So, we know it has the latest news when we get it.
Reminded me of when my mom would rub the dog’s nose in his business – didn’t need the paper for long. Thank goodness our Mackie was trained when we rescued him.

The best thing to paper train a puppy is the Sunday NY Times—if that’s available in Canada.

Somehow the news, particularly political news, was so much better when your puppy provided his/her thoughts on the topic.

Get puppy pads. They work great. Put them in front of the door you would take he/she out to potty. They’ll understand that going outside is to potty.

Remember, Edgar was part of a litter. What happened to the other puppies?

I see Elle’s premonition is coming true – see who is cleaning up after the new pup.

We used to use Silly Putty to make impressions of the Sunday comics, and stretch it to distort the pictures. What fun!

Another reason to prefer cats. They litter-train themselves.

Classifieds, John? Looking for an apartment while Elly goes through menopause? One can hardly blame you!
