I had a neighbour that went on a strict diet and imposed it on the whole household without notice nor mutual consent (her husband, two kids, and the kids she babysat). Her husband divorced her eventually (within a couple of years.) I sometimes think that this was her aim.

I’ve come to like lentils but only as an additional option never as a substitute.

Don’t be upset John. Lentil still contains a good source of protein. Not as much as actual meat, but definitely much more protein than from celery.

At the very least, all the plant matter is good for the digestion.

Paul McCartney- 81 years old. Ringo Starr- 83 years old. Both have been following a vegetarian diet for multiple decades. While many people in their age range can’t even walk a mile, both Ringo and Paul still do world tours and both still perform concerts for two to three hours per night. I’ve been vegetarian for 15+ years and lost just over 100 lbs, as well.

The medley isn’t from the mixture of beans, it’s from the gas soon to be emitted

Geez, they really have been cycling through the same two or three diet fads for a long time, haven’t they? This is about as timeless a strip as you’ll ever see in this 29-year-old saga.

Some how, Elly has become a disciple of Andy Fox and is spreading the good curd, soy curd to be sure.

I’m with John…every couple weeks my wife will do a stew or soup or somesuch sans any kind of meat. For her it is as much cultural as it is health focused, and to be fair, it is always good, so I enjoy it, but even after so many decades together it is a tough sell…I usually pay her back by grilling steaks the next night….

the old story—Mom’s on a diet so that means everybody’s on a diet.

If you see Elly reading THE FOX TROT Cookbook, time to head to the local diner.

Ways for Elly to eat out and lose weight..

*Elly should sit across from a mother spoonfeeding her baby.

*Elly should sit across from an old man eating lentil soup.

*Elly should eat at the cafeteria of any public school.

*Elly should go to a restaurant where the matrie’d has bad breath.

*Elly could eat at hospital cafeterias within earshot of doctors talking about their operations.

*Elly should enter a Chinese restaurant by way of the kitchen.
