I can understand what Len is saying, but I agree with her and she’s right. Her concerns, or at least the home concerns should be of more import, not just the federal stuff.
Clueless idiot. You can be concerned about more than one thing you moron. And dismissing her concerns because of a much bigger public issue is still dismissing. Sure, if the house was on fire, it would be more important but otherwise, shut up. LISTEN TO HER and if asked, offer some actual input.
Len’s right in the sense that Abbey’s fretting too much about problems that, ultimately, aren’t the biggest of things to worry about in life…but his delivery on this needs a LOT of work, and I can totally understand why Abbey’s upset about it. It does make him sound like he just doesn’t care and is simply blowing her off, not the thing she wants or needs to be hearing.
I’m on Abby’s side, when somebody diminishes my needs or pain I tell them “that doesn’t help.” Getting angry or dismissing a person’s words and saying that they’re making it about themselves does not help either.
A lot of interesting reactions. My take on this is people just want to be heard. They don’t need you to fix it or do anything more than hear them. Sometimes you just have to zip it and listen.

Better apologize and don’t say more, because every time you open your mouth you put your foot in it.

Focus on the issue at hand.

You would think a therapist would understand that “her” problems are not necessarily “his” problems. He is busy with his own problems.

No problems are small to the person who has them.
