A common term during my career; RIF’d = Reduction In Force.

One company denied unemployment to people laid-off because they claimed a plant shut-down did not qualify. I wasn’t going to try for unemployment but my wife insisted I apply each week. For several weeks I applied and got rejected. My fellow ex-employees did not do that. After about 6 months the courts ruled the company was trying to weasel out paying and that was illegal. Also, if you applied each week they must pay you all those weeks.I got a really nice lump sum check. And I found a new job in another state. My wife is very smart.

or, hows about ‘of little use’?

Ah, corporate life! I’ve been laid off, down sized, right sized, impacted, and let go. (But I always found a new job within 3 weeks!).

I wasn’t fired. They sold the store & the only person they kept was the manager who lost the store to them. Now they’re closed.

Poor poor little snowflake.
