The amount of things the kids have to learn excedes many parents’ ability, and time availabilty. The house and utilities and food aren’t free.

A honest friend?

Hector’s parents might be teachers?

Hector might be following a homeschooling curriculum?

why is she speaking in capital letters ?

Socialization skills may suffer when home-schooled..?

My new soon to be ex-friend. I doubt he phrased it that way.

I mean, what a rude kid. Hector apparently doesn’t know that not all parents can afford to have one stay at home to school their kids.

Hector, I think you just triggered a major conflict between Marcy and Jojo.

Works full time.

Because it takes lots of time and she does not have that.

She totally does, but she’s a working mom.

Looks like his homeschooling curriculum didn’t include any units relating to socialization.

Because Marcy or Joe can afford to leave their skilled professional jobs and sacrifice their careers to homeschool? Neither of them could, or would.

Many home-schooling teachers probably don’t really have what it takes.

Throwing down the gauntlet?

panel 2 is a clear admonishment of the home schooling model. Instead of “hello” his opener is “have you considered totally changing your way of life to be more similar to my own, random stranger I haven’t exchanged two words with yet? No? Well you must just be a stupid person”

Same result, different reasoning.

Do any of you remember Hec Ramsey the American television series that aired on NBC from 1972 to 1974, starring Richard Boone?

I didn’t but came across it on YouTube the other day. I only mention it because the lady pharmacist asks Hec if Hec is a proper name.

He responds that it is “more proper than Hector in these parts.” (Oklahoma around 1900)

This Hector reminds me solely by name of that Hector.

Some home schooled kids are really dumb. Their parents teach them religious stuff, but no math, science or how to read. Poor kids suffer when they go out in the real world.

You’ve got to be HOME to home school a kid. With Marcy’s schedule she’s lucky breathing is automatic

Marcy does enough. She doesn’t need to feel guilty about that!
