I noticed new smoke detector don’t use 9 volts any more. Probably because they last too long and don’t want to change them until the smoke detector beeps.

If you just put your tongue on one terminal and a moistened finger on the other, it won’t be so shocking.

Just did this a couple of days ago to check if the battery still had a charge. It did. whooooo!

I remember doing that (often) as a kid. Cheaper than a battery tester, even though I ended up making a simple one for other battery types using a large paper clip and a small light bulb.
