Not only does the plastic pollute the planet, but this is an atrocious use of the world’s dwindling supply of helium. It’s a noble gas, you know, so it’s not locked up in any chemical compounds, and the 2nd lightest one in existence (after hydrogen), so once it’s released into the atmosphere it rises into space and is lost to humanity forever.
My church, St. Mark’s on Capitol Hill, used to celebrate Easter by blowing up a bunch of balloons and tying them to the baptismal font in the back of the church. We would then hand out the balloons to churchgoers leaving the church. We stopped doing that when we heard they weren’t biodegradable. As well as the potential damage to marine life. But I wasn’t aware that helium wasn’t in any chemical compounds. And that the helium supply is dwindling. As a little girl, I loved balloons. I still like looking at them in cartoons, movies, tv shows, etc. but I am all for finding alternatives to them in real life.

Balloons for Valentine’s Day? This is the first I’ve even heard of it.
Meanwhile, I find it interesting that he has a speech balloon, but only in the first frame.
