Once we were treated to a competition between the bus drivers and moms trying to catch them. I remember a mom in the background in robe and slippers, doing a stretch before it was her turn. She was the star that day, for me. Laughed a lot.

Some drivers of diesel pickups in the south have rigged their truck to emit clouds of black smoke on demand. Its called “Blowing Coal.”

We’ll know Batiuk’s gone too far when the bus looks like a rig from a Mad Max movie.

Some people have modified diesel engine vehicles to emit clouds of black smoke on command. Such “rolling coal” is intended to be an in-your-face insult to environmentalists. But, because of air pollution, health hazards, and visibility hazards, it is illegal in some places.
