Years ago I was at a wedding in the middle of a summer heat wave, in a non-air conditioned church, with a long church service included. Over an hour. Two older ladies fainted from the heat and humidity and had to be carried out.
Heh, the parents in the first panel are amusing. I love how the Dad was not as thrilled about the wedding as much as Calvin.
I picture this strip underscored by that Bruton/APM rendition of the “Wedding March” titled “Wedding Procession” by Leslie Pearson, as heard in Nicktoons like “Ren & Stimpy”, “Rocko’s Modern Life” and “SpongeBob SquarePants”…
My wife was a teacher when we got married in 1988. One of her students invited my wife to her wedding, the student was Vietnamese and the whole wedding was in that language. At the end someone went to the dais and thanked everyone for coming in Vietnamese and English, it took a second for my brain to realize that I could understand again. YAWN

Mum giving Dad the side eye in the first frame. Dad and Calvin are equally enthralled by the wedding.

Calvin’s Dad might not be walking by the time he gets home, by the way his Mom was looking at him.

These must be friends/family of the mom’s. She’s the only one interested in the proceedings.

Kids never know why they have to go with parents to these kinds of things. They just suffer until time to romp.

Per Wikipedia an adult tiger can go 2 weeks without food then it will eat 75 lbs. of meat! Calvin looks about 75 so he should be worried!

The depicted image of Calvin’s parents sums up typical male / female spectator reactions to a wedding almost perfectly.

LOL… Another boring wedding. I see Dad is starting to nod off, too. Why do women cry at both weddings AND funerals?

Good thing Calvin wasn’t made the ringbearer. He’d probably run off with it to throw it in some volcano.

This clears the air that Calvin loves his mother more than father, alright.
