You don’t have to be a plugger to know that.

The procedure at most takes an hour, the prep on the other hand.

Many, many, many years ago I needed a sigmoidoscopy. There I laid on my side, my knees to my chin and the instrument in place. The doctor asks me to hold the instrument for a moment. I reach back and gingerly hold it. He calls in his nurse and introduces us. After that I decided I would never be embarrassed by any medical procedures.

A few years ago I asked the anesthesiologist just before going under if I should count backwards. Her response “Do you ever yo……” That was the last words I recall. Sure beats ether from the 1940s…

The pills cost about $40 if you don’t have insurance, but I would pay any amount not to drink that Go Lively crap.

That’s why I use Cologard. The only prep required is to the poop before you ship it.

I hope that the bear is in the woods after he drinks it.

Last time it didn’t work on me. They wanted me to do it over, with 2 days of fasting. I said no thanks and did Cologard.

My last one, I last ate around 8 PM Saturday. My prep was to start Sunday afternoon for a 2:30 Monday appointment. I wasn’t sure if I could eat breakfast or not, so I didn’t. I drank half the stuff as directed, and… nothing. Not even liquid. I was supposed to drink the second half Monday morning. My doctor called to check in, and I told him all of that, and he said I had inadvertently done a two day cleanse, and not to bother drinking the rest. And the kicker was, I wasn’t even hungry!

If you know anyone with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, ask them how to pre! It still isn’t fun, but we do know tricks. Folks who only need to do it once a decade have no idea how easy they have it!

EEEWWW. I’ve been avoiding that process, because being a lifelong hardcore gagger, I could never choke even part of that stuff down!

Get your colonoscopy. I’ve been dealing with colon cancer for almost 10 years now. A colonoscopy can find and remove polyps, which can PREVENT cancer. Grow up and be an adult and deal with a little discomfort for your health. I hate it when comedians and sitcoms and now comic strips contribute to the misconception that a colonoscopy is horrible experience. You know what IS horrible? Getting gutted from navel to pubes to have a chunk of your colon removed. Round after round of chemotherapy. Having diarrhea for six months instead of one day. Being sick to your stomach so much that it just becomes part of life. Having your fingers split from the chemo. Losing the feeling in your hands and feet from chemo. Losing your career because you’re too sick to work a whole day. Grow up and get a colonoscopy.
