There’s a fountain in front of the Veterans Center in Culver City, CA. Every so often someone tosses a bottle of dish washing liquid into it. Makes a spectacular mess!
As a kid, my family went to Palisades Amusement Park on the Jersey side of the Hudson (it’s now a bunch of apartments). Anyway…we won cases of Mr. Bubble that were delivered to our house. Had to be around 1967 or so.
I do not know if this is a true story or not, but I remember seeing it on a practical jokes show way back in the ’70’s or ’80’s. Some college kids worked at Yellowstone and one of the rangers gave them a hard time all summer. So on their last day they put a fake valve into the ground. When the geyser started to go one of them yelled LET ’ER RIP! and started to turn it. The tourists all saw them and started to question whether the geyser was real.
Have you seen a college or university that didn’t have a fountain in front of the dorms? I swear, they put them there on purpose so the kids can put soap and dye in them.

I read once that back in the 19th century one in NZ used to be started by soap being thrown in. A volcano later rearranged the whole area.

We’ll probably see this or something like this on Tourons of Yellowstone.

I’ve seen the effect of bubble bath or dish soap in a fountain. Pretty, but very messy.

Sadly the term Touron is becoming synonymous with American.

Instead of soap beads, they could use plastic beads that would melt and bubble at the higher temperatures.

We had a big fountain in our little Kansas town and periodically kids would put soap in it. Made lots of bubbles. :-))

Bubble gum flavor?

Actually, it damages the geysers and pools. Fines and restitution are required punishment. Not funny.

You know some fool is going to try this now.
