The problem, to my way of thinking, is that most of the rhetoric is extreme. Rational, reasoned conversation is drowned out in the resulting cacophony. It doesn’t seem to matter what the topic of discussion is, things are polarized either for or against and how dare anyone disagree with either opposing side or horrors of all, adopt a middle of the road position.
Perfectly describes current political theater, where little governing is being done, and it is all posturing and popularity contests. Very little sensible rhetoric.

For example, the comments sections on GoComics…I.E., whatever riles them up gets the biggest response…it’s all about buttons and triggers.
